England manager Thomas Tuchel has given Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha a major vote of confidence after including the teenager in his latest Three Lions squad.
Ngumoha has been rewarded for his rapid development with another senior England call-up, having already made his international debut earlier this year.
The 18-year-old was included in Tuchel’s squad for England’s upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against Spain, Czechia and Croatia.
And while explaining his decision to select the Liverpool winger, Tuchel made it clear that he is excited about what Ngumoha could become.
Tuchel impressed by Ngumoha
Speaking about the teenager, Tuchel highlighted his performances despite his young age.
The England boss said Ngumoha had been “very impressive at this kind of age”, before adding that the coaching staff are “really excited about his potential.”
Tuchel also singled out the youngster’s approach on the pitch, praising his natural courage and adventurous style of play.
Those comments are significant for Ngumoha, who is still at the beginning of his senior career but is already attracting attention at both club and international level.
Liverpool’s teenager continues to rise
Ngumoha joined Liverpool from Chelsea’s academy in 2024 and has since become one of the most talked-about young players around the club.
His progress accelerated during the 2025/26 campaign as he began receiving opportunities with the Liverpool first team.
He also caught the attention of Tuchel during England’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
Although Ngumoha did not make England’s final World Cup squad, he was given his senior debut against New Zealand in June.
Liverpool confirmed that he has now been selected again for the latest England squad, with the teenager set to be involved in four Nations League fixtures.
A big opportunity for Ngumoha
The latest call-up gives Ngumoha another chance to work with some of England’s biggest stars and continue adapting to senior international football.
For Liverpool, it is also another indication of how highly the youngster is regarded.
Ngumoha’s development has attracted plenty of attention because of his ability to take on defenders, attack space and play with confidence despite his age.
Tuchel’s comments suggest that the England manager sees those qualities as important parts of the youngster’s game rather than weaknesses that need to be coached out of him.
The challenge now will be maintaining that progress.
Ngumoha still has to establish himself as a regular starter at Liverpool, but his inclusion in successive England squads shows just how quickly his reputation has grown.
Liverpool have a special talent on their hands
Ngumoha’s rise has been remarkably quick.
He is already an England senior international at just 18 and has earned the public backing of a manager as experienced as Tuchel.
The England boss did not simply praise Ngumoha’s current performances. His comments focused heavily on the youngster’s potential, suggesting that the coaching staff believe there is considerably more to come.
For Liverpool supporters, that will be particularly encouraging.
If Ngumoha can continue developing at Anfield and turn his exciting cameos into consistent senior performances, his role for both Liverpool and England could become much bigger in the coming years.
For now, however, the teenager has another opportunity to impress Tuchel and show why England have moved quickly to bring him into the senior setup.
And judging by Tuchel’s latest comments, the England boss is already very excited about what he sees.
