Liverpool have been linked with a move for Real Madrid forward Endrick as the Brazilian youngster continues to search for regular first-team opportunities.
The 20-year-old returned to Madrid after spending the second half of last season on loan at Lyon, where he impressed with eight goals and eight assists in 21 appearances across all competitions.
Liverpool reportedly made contact with Real Madrid during the summer to explore the possibility of signing Endrick, including discussions around a loan deal with an option to buy and a permanent transfer. However, Madrid were not prepared to let the youngster leave at that stage.
The situation could become interesting again in the coming months.
Endrick has found opportunities difficult to come by since returning to the Santiago Bernabéu. Reports from Spain on Wednesday stated that he had played only four minutes of La Liga football this season after recovering from a pre-season injury.
That lack of playing time could eventually force another conversation about his future, particularly with competition for places high in Real Madrid’s attack.
Liverpool’s interest, meanwhile, has reportedly remained genuine. The Reds previously explored whether a deal could be reached, but Real Madrid made it clear that they wanted to keep the Brazilian and give him an opportunity to fight for his place.
A move in January therefore cannot be completely ruled out if Endrick’s situation does not change.
For Liverpool, the Brazilian would represent an exciting attacking option with plenty of room to develop. For Endrick, a move to Anfield could provide the regular football he needs at this stage of his career.
For now, though, Endrick remains a Real Madrid player, and any potential Liverpool move will depend heavily on how his situation develops over the next few months.
The January transfer window could therefore bring another chapter to the Endrick-Liverpool story.
