Chelsea are reportedly keeping a close eye on Como midfielder Lucas Da Cunha after his impressive rise has earned him international recognition with France.
The 25-year-old midfielder was one of the surprise names included in Zinedine Zidane’s first France squad and was handed a starting role in Monday’s victory over Belgium.
His recent performances have attracted plenty of attention, but Chelsea’s interest in the player is reportedly not a new development.
According to TEAMtalk, the Blues had already been monitoring Da Cunha before his breakthrough at international level. Several Premier League clubs are also understood to have followed his progress during his time at Como.
Da Cunha has continued to develop into an important player for the Italian side, with his performances now putting him firmly on the radar of clubs across Europe.
His development has also been helped by the presence of Cesc Fabregas at Como. The former Chelsea midfielder has played an influential role at the club and has been involved in the development of a team that has attracted increasing attention in Serie A.
Chelsea are now reportedly considering whether to make a move for Da Cunha as his reputation continues to grow.
However, with several clubs monitoring the French midfielder, any potential deal could become increasingly complicated if his impressive form continues.
For now, Chelsea appear to be keeping Da Cunha firmly on their radar as they assess their midfield options ahead of a possible future move.
