Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki as the Spanish giants continue to explore options to strengthen their attack.
The French international has attracted attention from several European clubs, with Barcelona among the teams monitoring his situation at Manchester City. According to recent transfer reports, the Catalan club could consider a move for the 23-year-old if circumstances at the Etihad Stadium create an opportunity to sign him.
Cherki joined Manchester City from Lyon in June 2025, signing a five-year contract that runs until 2030. He arrived in England after an impressive final season in France, where he recorded 12 goals and 20 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.
His creativity, dribbling ability and vision have made him an exciting attacking option, while his versatility allows him to operate as an attacking midfielder or on either wing.
Barcelona are understood to admire these qualities, with the club reportedly considering how the Frenchman could fit into their attacking setup. His technical ability and capacity to create chances could complement players such as Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
However, a potential transfer would not be straightforward. Manchester City have Cherki under a long-term contract and are not under any confirmed obligation to sell him. Barcelona would therefore need to reach an agreement with the Premier League club, with the transfer fee likely to be a major factor.
Recent reports have also linked Cherki’s future to the uncertainty surrounding Manchester City’s financial case. Barcelona are reportedly monitoring the situation, although there has been no confirmation that City are prepared to lower their asking price or negotiate his departure.
The Catalan club could also face competition from other European sides, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, who have been mentioned in reports concerning the French playmaker.
For now, Cherki remains a Manchester City player, and there is no confirmed agreement or official bid from Barcelona. Any potential move will depend on the player’s situation, Manchester City’s position and Barcelona’s financial ability to complete a deal.
A transfer to Camp Nou would offer Cherki the opportunity to experience Spanish football, but whether Barcelona will make a formal approach remains to be seen.
