Manchester United are reportedly showing strong interest in Joao Felix ahead of the January transfer window, with the club said to be considering the Portuguese forward as a potential option for their attacking ranks.
According to reports from El Nacional, United are keeping a close eye on Felix as they prepare for the possibility of Bruno Fernandes leaving the club.
The potential departure of Fernandes would leave a significant gap in United’s squad, both in terms of creativity and experience. The Portuguese midfielder has been one of the club’s most important players in recent years, making any decision to replace his influence a major one.
Felix, meanwhile, remains an interesting name in the transfer market. The 26-year-old has previously attracted attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs because of his technical ability, movement and versatility in the final third.
Although Felix is naturally an attacking player rather than a direct replacement for Fernandes, his ability to operate behind the striker or from wider positions could make him an attractive option for United if they decide to reshape their attack.
United’s reported interest could also depend heavily on what happens with Fernandes in the coming months. If the club captain remains at Old Trafford, a move for Felix may not become a priority. However, if Fernandes does leave, United could be forced to look for additional creativity and attacking quality.
There is still a long way to go before anything becomes concrete, and no agreement has been reached at this stage. For now, Felix appears to be one of the names being monitored as Manchester United consider their options ahead of January.
With the transfer window approaching, this is certainly a situation worth watching. A move for Felix would represent an interesting decision for United, particularly if the club has to plan for life without Fernandes.
