Nasser Al-Khelaifi Breaks Silence on Manchester City Financial Verdict

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has reacted to the latest development in Manchester City’s long-running financial case, calling for patience while the club’s appeal process continues.

Manchester City were recently found guilty by an independent commission of the financial breaches brought against them by the Premier League. The case relates to alleged financial rule violations covering a number of years, with the club now expected to challenge the findings.

However, Al-Khelaifi, who is also chairman of the European Football Clubs (EFC), chose not to condemn City following the verdict.

Speaking during the EFC General Assembly in Copenhagen, Al-Khelaifi stressed that the process is not yet completely finished and that City have the right to appeal the decision.

“We are not here to judge something that is not a final decision. We are here to help and support each other.”

The PSG chief also made it clear that he did not see himself as being in a position to make a final judgment on the matter, pointing out that the issue primarily concerns the Premier League and English football.

Manchester City have already indicated that they intend to appeal the commission’s findings. No final sporting punishment has yet been announced, meaning the case could continue to generate plenty of discussion in the coming weeks and months.

Al-Khelaifi’s comments have understandably attracted attention, particularly because of the high-profile nature of the case and his position as president of another major European club.

For now, though, his message was largely centred on allowing the legal process to run its course rather than making a public judgment on Manchester City.

The next major development will be the outcome of City’s appeal and the eventual decision on any sanctions that could follow.

The Manchester City case remains one of the biggest financial stories in European football, and there is still plenty to come before the matter is finally settled.
