Arsenal have reportedly stepped up their interest in Como defender Jacobo Ramon after the Spanish youngster indicated that he is not planning to return to Real Madrid.
According to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Arsenal have already made an approach for the 21-year-old centre-back, who has emerged as one of the names on Mikel Arteta’s list of potential defensive reinforcements.
Ramon’s future has attracted plenty of attention in recent days, particularly after reports claimed that Real Madrid were considering bringing him back to the club in 2027.
The Spanish giants are believed to be looking at Ramon as a possible replacement for Antonio Rudiger, who could leave football at the end of the season.
Ramon came through Real Madrid’s academy and made six appearances for the senior team before leaving the club for Como in the summer of 2025.
His development in Italy has reportedly impressed Madrid, with the defender adapting quickly to Serie A and becoming an important player for Como.
However, Spanish outlet AS recently reported that Ramon is not currently interested in returning to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The defender is said to be focused on playing regularly and feeling important at his current club rather than simply returning to Madrid.
Arsenal and Chelsea have both been linked with the youngster, but reports from Italy now suggest that the Gunners are taking concrete steps to try to secure his signature.
TuttoMercatoWeb claims Arsenal see Ramon as one of their priority options for strengthening the defence and are already working on a possible move for the future.
Ramon focused on Como
Despite the growing interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, Ramon appears to be concentrating on his current situation at Como.
The Italian side enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, finishing fourth in Serie A and earning a place in the Champions League.
They have also made a strong start to the current season and are currently just three points behind league leaders AS Roma.
Speaking about his future on September 23, Ramon made it clear that he is not allowing transfer speculation to distract him.
“I’m focused on the present.
“I’m very happy at Como and I’m only thinking about doing my best this season, winning a lot of games and getting as far as possible,” he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
Ramon was also asked about the difficulty of breaking into Real Madrid’s first team compared with Barcelona.
“At Real Madrid, you have the best players in the world; playing time isn’t handed out, but last year saw the most debuts.
“Two years ago, I debuted, along with Chema (Andres), Víctor (Munoz), Gonzalo (García)… so many people, and I’m sure more will make their debuts.”
For now, Ramon appears determined to continue developing at Como, but with Arsenal reportedly already working on a potential deal, his future could become one of the stories to watch ahead of the 2027 transfer window.
