Roy Keane has sent a strong message to Manchester United ahead of their Premier League meeting with Tottenham after the international break, insisting that there should be no excuses if Spurs arrive at Old Trafford still searching for their first league victory of the season.
The former Manchester United captain believes the fixture should be approached as a straightforward test of character. For Keane, United have to take responsibility and make sure Tottenham do not leave Old Trafford with the kind of result that would make an already difficult situation even worse.
Tottenham’s poor start has continued to attract attention. Spurs suffered a 3-2 defeat against Aston Villa on Saturday, September 19, leaving them without a Premier League victory after five matches. The result means Roberto De Zerbi’s side remain in the relegation zone, despite the club investing heavily in rebuilding the squad during the summer.
That is exactly why Keane believes Manchester United must be fully prepared for the challenge.
Keane demands a response from United
Speaking about the upcoming fixture, Keane made it clear that he does not want to hear explanations about injuries, tired players or the disruption caused by the international break.
His argument is simple: Manchester United are playing at Old Trafford, and Tottenham are coming into the game without a league win.
For Keane, that should provide United with enough motivation.
