Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea could have a unique advantage if they decide to appoint Cesc Fàbregas as their manager in the future.
According to a report from AS, Fàbregas has a special release clause in his contract with Como that is available only to his three former clubs — Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea.
This means that if any of the three clubs decide they want Fàbregas on their bench, they would not necessarily have to sit down with Como and negotiate a compensation package.
Instead, they could activate the agreed release clause and bring the Spanish coach in directly.
Fàbregas has a strong connection with all three clubs. He came through Barcelona’s famous academy before making his name in English football with Arsenal. He later returned to Barcelona, while also spending several successful years at Chelsea as a player.
His transition into management has also attracted plenty of attention. After beginning his coaching journey at Como, Fàbregas has continued to build his reputation and is increasingly being linked with bigger opportunities.
The special clause could therefore become an interesting factor whenever one of his former clubs is looking for a new manager.
For now, there is no indication that Barcelona, Arsenal or Chelsea are preparing to make a move for him. However, the reported contract detail means all three clubs could potentially have a much simpler route to appointing Fàbregas than other clubs would.
With his history at all three sides and his growing experience as a coach, Fàbregas remains a name that could attract serious attention in the future.
