Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly facing competition from three Premier League clubs for the signature of Brazilian teenage defender Arthur Dias.
Spurs have been monitoring the Athletico Paranaense centre-back for some time and are believed to have made an offer for the youngster during the final days of the summer transfer window.
Although that approach was unsuccessful, Tottenham have not abandoned their interest and are continuing to track the defender ahead of the January transfer window.
Dias, who is only 19, has quickly established himself as one of the most promising young defenders in Brazilian football. His recent performances for Athletico Paranaense have also earned him a call-up to the Brazil national team.
Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has included the left-footed centre-back in his squad for the upcoming friendly matches against Australia and India.
Tottenham face Premier League competition
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham remain keen on Dias but will have to contend with interest from Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Brentford.
All three Premier League clubs are reportedly monitoring the defender and could consider making a move when the January transfer window opens.
Dias is also attracting attention from clubs across Europe, with teams from Spain, Italy, Germany and Portugal said to be keeping an eye on his development.
A senior international appearance for Brazil during the upcoming fixtures could increase the defender’s profile even further and potentially lead to more clubs entering the race.
Athletico Paranaense consider new contract
Athletico Paranaense are understood to be aware of the growing interest in Dias and are reportedly considering offering him a new contract.
The Brazilian club could look to improve his terms and strengthen their position before any future negotiations, especially with several clubs now tracking the teenager.
For Tottenham, the January window could provide another opportunity to pursue a defender they have admired for a long time. However, with strong Premier League and European competition emerging, securing Dias may not be straightforward.
