Kai Havertz has given Arsenal fans another glimpse into the lighter side of life inside the Gunners’ dressing room after revealing one of the pranks Gabriel Magalhaes regularly plays on him.
According to a report by Football London on Saturday, September 19, 2026, Havertz opened up about his relationship with Gabriel and explained why the Brazilian defender is one Arsenal teammate he would never trust with his phone if he happened to leave it unlocked.
The two players are regarded as popular figures within Mikel Arteta’s squad, and their relationship appears to reflect the strong bond that has developed among the Arsenal players away from the pitch.
While Gabriel is known for his aggressive style and uncompromising approach during matches, the defender has also built a reputation for being a big personality in the dressing room.
The Brazil international has previously shown his playful side on social media, including his exchanges with opponents such as Richarlison. He has also been involved in some entertaining battles with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland over the years.
However, it appears Gabriel’s sense of humour is not limited to players from rival clubs.
During a Reddit Ask Me Anything session, Havertz was asked which Arsenal teammate he would least trust with his phone if it was left unlocked.
The Germany international did not have to think for long before naming Gabriel.
Havertz explained that the centre-back has a habit of taking his phone and doing things on it without his permission. He jokingly described Gabriel’s actions as “stupid stuff”, making it clear that leaving an unlocked phone anywhere near the defender could be asking for trouble.
It is the kind of story that offers a different perspective on Gabriel, who is usually seen by supporters as one of the most serious and aggressive players on the pitch.
Away from matchdays, though, the defender appears to be very different, with Havertz’s comments suggesting that his teammates have become comfortable enough around him for these kinds of jokes to take place.
The relationship between Arsenal’s players has been noticeable in recent seasons, with several members of the squad speaking about the importance of their friendships and togetherness.
Gabriel has also developed a strong relationship with fellow defender Ezri Konsa, with Arteta recently praising the connection between the two players and suggesting that they already look like they have known each other for years.
For Havertz, however, there is clearly one lesson to remember: leaving his phone unlocked around Gabriel might not be the smartest decision.
The defender may be one of Arsenal’s most reliable players on the pitch, but according to Havertz, he is certainly not the teammate to trust with an unattended phone.
