Liverpool and Arsenal are keeping an eye on Brentford winger Kevin Schade, with the Bees now looking to tie the German down to a new long-term contract.
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool are among the clubs interested in the 24-year-old, while Arsenal are also monitoring his situation. Brentford have already opened initial talks with Schade as they look to protect one of their key attacking players from growing interest.
Liverpool strengthened their attacking options during the summer by signing Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz. However, the Reds had also been looking to bring in another winger, particularly a left-footed player who could play on the right side.
Schade could fit that profile.
The German international is capable of playing on either flank and has the pace to cause problems for defenders. He has also made a strong start to the season, scoring three league goals so far.
Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas said: “Brentford have held initial talks with Kevin Schade about a new long-term contract in the wake of his excellent start to the campaign and increasing interest from bigger clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool.”
Schade could bring more pace to Liverpool’s attack
Liverpool could see Schade as an option who would add even more pace and directness to their attack.
His ability to operate on both wings would also give the Reds more options going forward, especially against teams that sit deep and make it difficult to find space through the middle.
For Brentford, keeping hold of Schade will now be a priority. His current contract runs until 2028, but the club are keen to improve his terms and secure his future amid interest from some of the Premier League’s bigger clubs.
If Liverpool or Arsenal decide to make their interest concrete, they could reportedly have to pay around €60 million to sign him.
