Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Como defender Jacobo Ramón as they look to strengthen their defence ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
The Red Devils are said to have identified the 21-year-old Spanish centre-back as one of their priority targets, with the club keen to reinforce their defensive options for the second half of the season.
Ramón has attracted attention following his performances for Como, where he has continued to develop his reputation as a promising young defender. His progress has reportedly caught the eye of several top European clubs, with Manchester United now considering a move for his signature.
According to reports from Fichajes, the Spanish U21 international is valued at around €45 million to €50 million. However, United are not the only Premier League club keeping tabs on the defender, as Chelsea and Arsenal are also reportedly monitoring his situation.
The competition for Ramón’s signature could make negotiations challenging for Manchester United, particularly with other clubs potentially looking to secure his services.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid remain an important part of the situation. The Spanish giants reportedly retain 50 per cent of Ramón’s economic rights and have a buy-back option worth approximately €8 million to €9 million, which they could exercise in 2027.
This arrangement could complicate any potential transfer, especially if Real Madrid decide to bring the defender back to the Santiago Bernabéu as he continues to develop.
Manchester United are reportedly considering an early move in January to get ahead of their rivals and potentially prevent Real Madrid from exercising their buy-back option at a later date.
United’s reported interest in Ramón comes as the club continues to assess its defensive options, with the possibility of adding a young centre-back who could contribute in the present while also offering long-term potential.
However, no official agreement has been announced, and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United will turn their reported interest into a formal offer when the January transfer window opens.
With Chelsea and Arsenal also monitoring the situation and Real Madrid holding significant rights over the player, Ramón’s future could become an interesting transfer story in the coming months.
