Rodrygo Makes Arsenal Transfer Decision as Real Madrid Reveals Stance
Rodrygo has reportedly made his position clear on a potential move to Arsenal, with the Real Madrid winger currently focused on returning from his serious injury rather than leaving the Spanish giants in January.
Arsenal have been linked with the Brazil international for some time, and reports suggest the Gunners remain interested in bringing him to the Emirates.
On September 17, TEAMtalk transfer insider Graeme Bailey reported that Arsenal had made contact with Rodrygo’s representatives.
The north London club had also held discussions about signing the 25-year-old during the summer of 2026, but their plans were disrupted when Rodrygo suffered an ACL injury against Getafe in March.
The winger remains sidelined, although there is growing optimism that he could return sooner than initially expected.
Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on Rodrygo’s situation and his potential move to Arsenal.
According to the Italian journalist, Rodrygo currently has no plans to leave Real Madrid during the January transfer window.
Rodrygo Wants to Return to Action
Romano explained on his YouTube channel that Rodrygo’s immediate priority is simply to get back on the pitch and regain his fitness.
He said there is now a feeling that the Brazilian could return earlier than initially expected.
Rodrygo was originally expected to make his comeback around February, but Real Madrid reportedly believe he could potentially become available as early as December or January.
However, the club will not rush his recovery after such a serious injury and want to make sure he is fully fit before allowing him to return.
Romano also confirmed that Arsenal remain admirers of the player.
“Obviously, they like the player,” he explained, while stressing that there is currently no movement towards a January deal.
Arsenal May Have to Wait
According to Romano, Rodrygo is expected to remain at Real Madrid throughout the January transfer window.
The winger is also reportedly grateful to the Spanish club for the support they have given him during his difficult period on the sidelines.
Arsenal’s interest is therefore unlikely to disappear, but any serious movement may have to wait until the summer.
Rodrygo was also previously linked with Manchester City. Romano revealed that City considered making a move for him when there was uncertainty surrounding Savinho’s future.
However, Savinho eventually stayed at the time, meaning the potential move for Rodrygo did not happen.
For now, Rodrygo’s situation appears straightforward: his priority is to recover, return to the pitch and continue his career at Real Madrid.
That will come as a blow to Arsenal, who may have to wait until next summer if they want to seriously pursue the Brazilian winger.
